Vintage Corum 2 1/2 Dollars Liberty 1912 Indian Head Coin 18K Yellow Gold Watch

Corum introduced the revolutionary Coin Watch line in 1964, pioneered by brand co-founder René Bannwart. Instead of creating a conventional watch dial, Bannwart sliced an authentic U.S. $20 Double Eagle gold coin in half, using the obverse as the watch face and housing an ultra-thin movement inside. The collection became an instant international icon, earning the nickname the "President's Watch" after being worn by numerous U.S. Presidents, including Richard Nixon, Jimmy Carter, Ronald Reagan, and Bill Clinton, as well as prominent historical figures like Andy Warhol. Building on this success, Corum expanded the line to include smaller U.S. gold denominations ($10, $5, and $2.50 Quarter Eagles) and created haute joaillerie variations adorned with enamel art and gem-setting. The centerpiece is a real $2.50 Indian Head Gold Coin struck in 1912 by the U.S. Mint (composed of 90% pure 22k gold). Corum's artisans sliced the authentic coin horizontally to form the watch face. Unlike standard Corum Coin watches, this artistic rendition features a hand-enameled Native American chieftain war bonnet in rich red, white, and blue tones. It is further elevated by 6 factory-set brilliant-cut diamond hour markers set along the coin's perimeter.
